Half a World Away: 2017 Summary and Review

Half a World Away: 2017 Summary and Review

I’m a pretty down to earth person. I don’t normally go in for the whole; new year, new beginning, time for reflection etc. etc. etc. But I’m meeting a lot of new people at the moment. They ask where I’m from and how I got to where I am now, and actually, it does make me stop and think about all the changes that have taken place over the past year.

Thinking about it, 2017 has been a huge year for me. Probably one of the biggest years of my life. So much amazing stuff has happened that I thought actually, just this once, maybe I should stop for a second, to take it all in. (more…)

Fitspo Fables Vol. 1: Be the Best You Wanna Be

Fitspo Fables Vol. 1: Be the Best You Wanna Be

It’s the 18th December. Which means that in one week’s time it’ll be Christmas, and in just under a fortnight we’ll be at the start of a whole new year.

Unsurprisingly, when you work in the fitness industry, January is usually your busiest period. It’s a month filled with ambition, epiphany- and expensive gym memberships that will (more often than not) get left unused.

Do’s and Don’ts: How to Stay Fit While Travelling

A few weeks ago I wrote a post that basically summarised how my training was going 6-weeks into a backpacking trip around Asia. Unsurprisingly, I’d found that it can get really difficult to establish a good fitness routine when you don’t even know what country you’re going to be in in two days time- let alone what gym facilities you’ll have access too!

Towards the beginning I was much more concerned with finding ‘cool’ places to work out, whether that meant doing a hiit session on the beach or trekking up a mountain at 3am! But it didn’t take me long to figure out that actually it’s much easier (and not that much more expensive) just to research a local gym and pop along if and when you have the time.

Now that we’re settled in Sydney, I’ve had a chance to a) get my routine back and b) reflect a bit more on how to go about keeping up your fitness habits when you’re away from home for a long period of time.

So if you’re thinking of escaping the cold weather and going on a backpacking adventure this holiday season, have a quick look at my do’s and don’ts for keeping fit whilst travelling.
