Fitspo Fables Vol. 1: Be the Best You Wanna Be

It’s the 18th December. Which means that in one week’s time it’ll be Christmas, and in just under a fortnight we’ll be at the start of a whole new year.

Unsurprisingly, when you work in the fitness industry, January is usually your busiest period. It’s a month filled with ambition, epiphany- and expensive gym memberships that will (more often than not) get left unused.

I actually love goal-setting and plan-making, and January is as good a time as any to set that in motion. However, New Year’s resolutions are fundamentally unsuccessful because people set goals that they don’t actually care about for the sole reason that “it’s New Years”. (more…)

Travel Fitness Log: Workout #7 (Chiangmai)

It was in Chiangmai that I ventured into an actual gym for the first time since leaving London. By which I mean, a building whose sole purpose was fitness. Aka, not a crappy hotel ‘gym’, not a swimming pool, and not just a space in-between some trees to hang a TRX and do some ab exercises.

I stumbled across Miss Fitness Chiangmai on one of my aimless wanders around the town. I was craving a good workout- 16 hours on a train had left me in a bizarre state of lethargic restlessness. If I hadn’t been wearing completely inappropriate workout attire, I would have gone in there and then. Instead, flip-flopping home, I resolved try it out the following day.

Travel Fitness Log: Workout #4 & #5 (Sri Lanka)

I’ve put workouts 4 & 5 in the same post for a couple of reasons. First of all, they both took place quite a while ago. We’re flying from Chiang Mai to Laos tomorrow, 4th country on our to-do list. Given that I’ve got a backlog of workouts to upload from Sri Lanka and Thailand, I kinda want to get these published!

Secondly, as far as workouts go, 4 and 5 are complete opposites. I thought it might be interesting to put them together so that you’re able to see the range and diversity of workouts you can do, even whilst backpacking and far away from your home gym. (more…)
